Internal parasites can be a huge nuisance for your cat. There are many ways cats can become infected with worms. Including, but not limited to flea infestations, passed on from their moms, and being around other cats that are infected. What are some internal cat parasites?
Some internal cat parasites are worms, such as roundworm, tapeworm, hookworm, whipworm and heartworm.
What are worm infestation symptoms in cats?
Some of the symptoms for worm infestation in cats is weight loss, dull fur coat, lethargy, and shedding of worms in feces. Certain worms, such as heartworm, may cause coughing or upper respiratory distress.
Do worm affect humans?
Yes, some parasites are considered zoonotic, meaning that they can be transferred from host-to-host, including humans. Roundworm can be passed on to humans. We are especially cautious with new kittens and puppies, as they are usually born with roundworm.
What is the deworming schedule?
The deworming schedule for kittens starts at 8-weeks-old, and is repeated every two weeks for 3 treatments. For adult cats, if they are indoor only, we recommend to deworm them once a year. If they are indoor/outdoor cats, we recommend to deworm them three times a year – June, August, and October.
Any deworming medication side effects?
