Raised on a dairy farm, my early resolve to become a veterinarian crystallized in grade 8. Notably, my first pet was an unconventional choice—a one-ton Holstein bull named Rocky. While the farm introduced me to large animals, I recognized the potential to make a more widespread impact by focusing on small animals.
In 1975, I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. Eager to return to my hometown in New Brunswick, I joined Riverview Animal Health Centre immediately after graduation. In just two years, I became a partner and over 45 years later, I’m still here. During my in veterinary medicine, I have had a diverse interest in all aspects of small animal care, with a particular evolution toward surgery. Currently, over 50% of my time is dedicated to orthopedics.
What I appreciate most about the hospital is the remarkable team I work with. Witnessing the incredible achievements, particularly in recent years, has been truly inspiring. The simultaneous growth of three clinics, all driven by our dedicated and passionate staff, showcases our commitment to excellence. From serving as a regular clinic to supporting over 20 referral clinics and providing 24/7 emergency care to a wide regional area and beyond, our team takes great pride in its accomplishments. This success is the result of the collective efforts of our expansive team, encompassing strong management, skilled veterinarians, technicians, receptionists, and dedicated animal attendants. Yet, we consider this journey ongoing, with much more to achieve!
On a personal note, here’s a fun fact: I’m one of those enthusiastic CrossFit enthusiasts and thoroughly enjoy it.
